PROFILE

Gaku was born in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan on March 10, 1989. He was influenced by his parents who are the professional musicians, so he started to play the violin at three years old and the piano at six years old. At his age of 14, he became interested in jazz, fusion music because his best friend introduced Japanese famous and popular fusion band "T-SQUARE".

After entering Waseda University in Japan, he began to play any styles at various live show venues in Japan. In 2010, he performed as a member of the band "Cantas Murata and Samba Machines" at Fuji Rock Festival, which is one of the most famous music festival in Japan. This band also performed at "Saude! Saudade... CARNAVAL" produced by J-Wave(FM 81.3kHz) for 4 consecutive years from 2011 to 2014. At the individual level, he engaged in various activities of playing live and recording as a keyboardist with various artists, composing music in advertising and film music, and teaching piano for beginners and actors from 2009 to 2015.

Gaku moved to the United States in January 2016, and he is studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, which extends his musical sensibilities. He studies jazz piano under Tim Ray and composition under Vadim Neselovskyi.
